Can anyone find a Robert Timby on the 1881 census please. I have him on the 1891 aged 29 with wife Eliza, they were living in Gainsborough Lincs. Thanks in advance. Dawn

Hiya, On the 1891 census it's says he was born Sutton Bridge Lincolnshire, i live in Lincs myself but i haven't heard of that place. Dawn

Try this one Robert Timberly born 1862 in Sutton Bridge, Gainsborough, His occupation was a foundry labourer(iron) he was a lodger at 1 Trent Street, Gainsbrough, Lincoln Possible the name was transcribed wrong.

Hmm ... this is odd. I can't find a Sutton St Mary, but there are a dozen or more villages around Sutton Bridge with "St" in their names (inc Sutton St James and Sutton St Edmund), and with the Timby family having Norfolk connections, Sutton St Mary must be around there. I can't find a Sutton around Gainsborough on the OS map.
