	It was quite common for middle names to be ommitted on the census returns. Sometimes you will find them using their first name on one census, and their middle name on the next one. I think they made it up as they went along. Provided the place on the census is within (or even near) the registration district, you are reasonably safe. Don't forget though, there have been cases of someone born in one place (where the birth was registered) but moving as a baby to another place, and they will put the second place as where they were born, perhaps not even realising that they weren't born there. 	im trying to locate joseph binns.hes listed on the 1881 census age 16 born thornton.BEFORE ANYBODY HELPS]quick question??ive been on 1837 online and checked between jan 1864 and jan 1866.as im still fairly new and dnt trust myself wanted to ask i found only one that was a possibility JOSEPH RAYNER BRADFORD YK?????cud this be him??as there isnt a middle name on the census that threw me,also with him being born thornton yet it lists bradford?although ive since learnt thornton was under the district bradford back then.just wanted someone to confirm if this cud or cudnt be him please???many thanks.xx
