Find Ancestors

I have found my 2 x great Grandfather on the 1881 census. Frederick Lock Age 42 born Ridge, Herts Farmer and occupier of 12 acres. Dwelling: Ridge Village, Ridge, Hertfordshire. I was hoping somebody could look on a previous census for me as I have not been able to find a birth or a marriage for him. I did find a possible birth for him on the IGI as William Frederick Nicholl Lock so perhaps he can be found under this name. In 1871 he should be living with his wife (?) Susan and their daughter Elizabeth. Thanks Jeanette

Hi Jeanette, Hope this helps a bit. Ancestry have just started indexing the 1871 census. Hertfordshire is in the process of being done now, but you cannot look at the scanned pages as yet. Thank you Deborah Well that's confused me then. I wonder at which point he decided to tell the enumerators that he was born in Ridge! Still at least it gives me another angle at which to try from. Do you know when the addresses will become available? Thanks for your help. Jeanette
