Can anyone help please. My great grandfather James Edwin Grant appears in the 1861 census as living in Cardiff together with his wife Jane and their daughter of 6 months Louisa Jane. The 1881 census shows Jane as the head of the house and living in Bristol together with Louisa (Lucy) Jane 20 years and my grandfather Edwin 17 years. I assume James must have passed away during the intervening 20 years. To reduce the number of years I need to check to establish when he indeed died can anyone tell me if he appears in the 1871 census either in Gloucestershire (Bristol) or Glamorgan (anywhere). My thanks in advance. Fred Birt |
