Thank you all so much! I'm more than certain that some of these must tie in somewhere. It has been driving me crazy looking for this Grandad, when all the others have been alot eaiser to find. I appreciate all you all for helping me and giving me something to go on, including support. With many thanks Regards Angie.

Dont give up, we all get like that at sometime, it is a most frustrating hobby. I have been searching for details on my grandfather for over 12 months and can get nothing concrete. Your fathers birth cetificate should give you details of his parents, then go a step further and try to find the marriage date of them, it will give their fathers, then progressively work backwards. By buying the certificates you will get another step back. 1837 online is a good site to download all the marriages, births, deaths from. When you view these dont just look and close the window, save them to your computer it's surprising how many times you go back to them and look. Did your grandfather serve in any of the wars? You may be able to get info that way. If you are in the country they lived in you can visit your local history centre or library and see if they have any electoral rolls. Have you tried the census's Perhaps like me you've done all you can. Good luck Regards Christina

I know that you may have already seen a post from me asking about my Grandfather, but I got his name wrong. I am now lead to believe it was Arthur Richard Parkes and not Alfred R Parkes. He was born in abt 1892-1902, in Poplar. He married Grace Hogsdon (maybe also be transcribed as Hogsden) and had I think 7 children, one being my Father. I really have hit a brickwall on this and I'm about to give up. Please could someone be kind enough to help me. Thank you in advance. Regards Angie.
