Can someone please help me to find my g-g-grandfather John Sugden. In 1861 he was in the army barracks at Aldershot, but his details are recorded as born in Oldham, Lancs, aged 21. However I can't find a birth cert reference for him in Oldham that matches this age. Maybe there is a John Sugden aged ~11 in or around Oldham at the time of the 1851 census? Any help much appreciated... Richard in Oz |

Hi Richard, I am sorry to say that I need TIME to help you. Odlham and its surrounding areas have been shuffled like a deck of cards these last 10 years, one minute is on its own the next it has come under some other council, where the records are I haven't a clue, maybe here maybe there, yippee they do like to make life easy. I will find out where the records are kept, and then see about going in search of your relative. Whereever they have gone it will not be too far from where I live as I am on the border of Manchester although in Manchester. Monday I will be at M/C record office, I may search there for his birth, but I can also find out where the Oldlham records have gone. Will be in touch as soon as I can. Denise |

Hi Denise, If you don't mind and if you have the time, perhaps you can see if you can find a record of birth for James Blears born 1861 in Weaste in Salford, his fathers name was George. I would be eternally grateful as I have hit the brick wall with this.....Thankyou. Kind Regards Gail. |
