not sure what to do now.. help needed please

I was trying to find name of wife of Thomas hardy. I have marriage certificate for his daughter Olive hardy married on 1920 age 21 address lived at 3 north burno, chester le street. I searched decoder to link them toghether and think if i have done it right found, a mary born 1875, thomas born 1870, and john born 1896. Thought that mary must have been mother. so next i searched for marriages on durham site and sent of ther maraged certificate of the only thomas hardy and mary, certificate arrived and it can't be the right one wife mary elln adamson aged 32. thomas nicholas hardy aged 26 marriaged on 1892. Not sure what to do now. please help someone.

Question: You did not actually get Olive's birth certificate did you? That will be the only way to confirm her parent's names, unless you can get a parish baptism record. You can also pay to check the family connection on 1901; someone advised that if you buy vouchers, then it's still a minimum 5 quid, only they have a longer lifetime than the 48 hours for debit/credit card payments. Also, presumably you used freebmd to link the father with a mary (maiden name unknown). There is no guarantee that the index is complete, her father's marriage may not be on there to even match a Mary with. Double-check at the library for all marriages in the father's name, and refer to them on freebmd to see if the pages have been transcribed. And more, Do not assume that they were married where they were living in 1901. Pauline

Hi Susan, there is marriage of Thomas Hardy at Chester-le-Street march quarter 1894 volume 10a page 692 not all partners are included . John
