Find Ancestors

Mr grandparents were Florence Christina Moore(born1898) she lived at 33 Newtown Road Woolston, Southampton. her fathers name was Robert Henry Moore no idea of his birth date. She Married Ernest Edward Cooper(born1896)married on the 11.07.23 at S Stoneham his father was James Cooper he lived at Pear Tree Square, Itchen, Southampton. Any information would be of help especially dates of birth and who their mothers were. Greatly appreciated if someone could help.

Looked on FreeBMD (an incomplete index of births marriages and deaths) couldn't find your Florence, best try 1837online. Looked on 1901 census, there is a Florence Moore, born in Southampton, aged 3 living in St Mary's parish of Southampton. If you want to see who she was living with, then you have to pay. http://www(.)census(.)pro(.)gov(.)uk - just remove the brackets BUT there doesn't seem to be a match with Robert Moore living there, so it might not be her. The best bet is to find her birth certificate, buy it, and you'll find out who her parents were etc. Then you can go on from there.

Jeanette on the 1901 I found Florence age 3 Southampton St Marys No Robert but there was a Henry 32 born Bere Regis Dorset he as a Slaughterman. Tried to get the family together but it doesn't work anymore, will see if I can break it down a bit for you. Irene

Jeanette This isn't positive family but its a good as I can get now. The children are living together and the couple also, but I can't place them together as you will see by the numbers on the left. Tried Moore for both sexes, I did try 5 years old with 5 around (0-10) and these are the only two, then I tried 20 years with 5 none (15-25), 30 years with 5 around (25-35) again only these two. Jeanette Found the births for a Henry Percival Mar qtr 1896 Southampton Florence Ada Mar qtr 1898 Southampton sorry forgot to write down the vol and page numbers if you look on freebmd it will give them to you. Marriage for Henry Moore Elizabeth Bowring Dec qtr 1894 Lymington vol 2b, page 134 If you get a birth first that will tell you the mothers maiden name. Then you can get the marriage knowing both names, saves wasting money. You can order the certificate on line with 1837 the certificate will cost you £7.00, you don't have to pay to order on line only if you look on the indexing but you will need to register which is free. It should take about a week to receive the certificate if they are not to busy, I think they might be as I should have received mine Friday and still waiting. Good Luck Irene

Jeanette Scrap that, I have look for the marriage of Florence M and didn't find it in Sept qtr 1923, so look for Ernest Cooper and he did marry a Moore, so looked again for the same page and vol no and it was Fanny C. This may be why you can't find a birth. So you need to look for Fanny or Frances
