Hi Debbie, Hope you dont mind me asking, but as you live in Devon, perhaps you could tell me whether or not there is a Somerton in Devon. A William Pellifant was born in Somerton Devon, but according to my map, Somerton is in Somerset. Has it moved county or are there two Somertons. Also, hope you don't mind me asking which Pillifants (or similar spellings) are on the Devon census 1861. Thanks, Paul C

Hi Debbi, A photo of church would be good. It is the Parish Church of Gt Torrington. If I am not pushing my luck grave stones of any Toms would be fantastic. Thanks Gail

hi, i have found some on the 1851. living in great torrington. george toms/45/married/glove manuf emp 250/b gt torr fanny/19/ elisabeth/ 17 mary a /15 george/ 12 william/ 10 john/ 8 martha/ 5 emma/2 georges wife will be there , but the families arnt in groups on my disc so hard to track down sometimes. also william/35/schoolmaster and wife martha/34/dressmaker. also john toms/70/former b smith wife elisabeth/71/schoolmistress elisabeth/d/37/gentlemans servant all the above were born in great torrington and lived on castle street, gt torrington. hope this is of some help, sue.
