Carol. What you get on 1837 online is just the names and then you have to send off for the certs. The same thing applies to the GRO Index that you will see at any big library, record office or LDS Centre. All you will ever see are the names and you have to decide if these are the names you are looking for. The reason many people go on to 1837 Online is because you can do it from your own home and do not have to travel anywhere so you weigh that up against the cost of actually accessing the records on line. To access the GRO anywhere else most places you do not have to pay to see the names. However when you want the certs you can either purchase direct from GRO Southport or LDS centres have forms or you can do it on line but you do need to know all the reference nos to do that. Does this make sense? Janet

Yes, i am making my 1st visit to my local history shop, it has st catherines index but i wasnt sure what it acctually showed you
