I am trying to find the grave of a Mary Elizabeth Wing who died about 1950ish, give or take a few years. In spite of numerous searches, cannot find her death on 1837 and I have also contacted the rector of the church (no response). I know she is buried here as my husband remembers going to the cemetery with his mother to put flowers on her grave as a very small boy. I am trying to establish any info on her at all as at present, no idea who she (guess what -can't find a marriage either!) Many thanks in advance. Jackie

No maiden name -no-one left alive to ask! She married John Wing around 1915/6 (this is when her name appears in the Sutton Directory) but, for all my sins, can't find a marriage for John. He was born 1888 so I guess she would have been born around the same time although my husband says she appeared to be a lot older than John -but then, women did in those days! Lived in West Street, Carshalton. John later remarried in the 50s after being widowed for some years. I am beginning to wonder if they ever did actually get married. They had no natural children although adopted two. This is why need to find a grave but live in Devon. Jackie

Hi Shelli Yes -still looking!!! Will get there. You've done so much for me already, feel awful that you're willing to have a look in the cemetery. The rector hasn't even bothered acknowledging my email to him -why bother putting his name and address on the site which is really comprehensive and full of information about the church. Thought finding out more about Mary Elizabeth may help me find HM. Even if she isn't connected it will give me something to get my teeth into while waiting for certificates and hitting brick walls elsewhere. I'll look up the phone number now and email you.
