	as far as I know "Germany FS" is Germany, foreign subject - so they hadn't been naturalized Zoe

	Genealogy is annoying. Don't get me wrong, it's wonderful when you find something, but evil when you can't. I need to find a marriage, but can't find it. I think it happened between 1854 and 1857 in St Pancras or Marylebone. The names are George James BYERS and Emma (possibly a different name!?!) MARTIN. Argh! LOL. Also my German great grandparents. I know roughly when they came to England and when they were born, and when died, but don't know where they were from. Is anyone making a trip to Kew? or the PRO (if they're the same, then oops!)? They should have immigration records there. I'm desperate to find them. I understand if no one can help me, but it would be so bloomin' fantastic if they could. I'm looking for 1897/8, possibly a boat from France, looking for SPENGLER. Jacob, Catharina, Jacob Jnr, Elisabeth and Harry. Does anyone know about naturalisation records? On the 1901 census, the Spenglers are down as 'Germany FS" under "where born". What does this mean? Had they been naturalised yet? Just having a rant, sorry, but I bet you can all sympathise. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated. Chloe
