wouldn't it be good if there was a site where we could all post the info we have to share-between everyone there must be loads that we already have. if anyone was interested i would look into it? i'll see what you all think first! jacqui i know this might sound bad but, i meant an independant site-i know some of you thought that too. something that belongs to the researchers not gc because you never know what might happen and also people who dont use gc can add stuff to. msn have the function to create groups that are already made you just add the information to them-what do u think? unless some one has a better idea, i was thinking of alphabetical surname categories with files added by people and, sections for census by area etc an information exchange. only my thoughts btw! |

Jacqui, check out the thread from Lucia Wallbank on 1837 saved pages. She has already strated a craze and hopefully GC will pick up on it and start a place where we can index what we have saved. Pam |

Brilliant idea. My house is being taken over by so many bits of papar I'm loath to throw out ......well you never know. Would be useful if it could be included in the quick search to save trawling through threads which disappear. Jackie |

I would join in adding saved images etc - so if needed I'll make up a site and link it between us? or GC to link us! I'm for it Tracy |

Yes, I would also support such an idea. The other information that we all have, is our own family trees. If we were all able to view each others trees, I think that would also be a great help. My wife and I have managed to contact other further removed family members through GC, but this will only work if the party contacted will reply, and quite often they don't, so then you don't know what to think, either that you are cheeky, or that there is no connection? Any other thoughts on this, I do of course realise that living people cannot be put on the tree without prior permission. Paul C |

I agree I have information including a marriage certificate I bought but was nothing to do with my family, would certainly support a site like that Maureen |

It sounds good to me. Vanessa, can't believe someone could do that, that's horrible. Laurie |

Sounds a good idea to me. Im happy to supply information of the hundreds of saved pages I have. I also have a few certificates that are not part of my family. And then theres the times ive thought ive found and family member and found so much information on that person only to realise that they are not part of my tree. I have so many files laying here full of information. Jill |

Yes good idea to share your 'spares'. I belong to some lists on genuki and people on their mainly the scots one often post their spares as it costs to search for them on Scotlands people. Not keen on using msn but yahoo groups seem to be better. Gloria |

Jacqui - it's a good idea. However, I may be wrong - but I thought a site such as you suggest already existed, called www(.)ukbdm(.)co(.)uk. As far as I know it is for people to exchange their extra information with others. It says it is 'sponsored by Stonebridge online college', so I don't know whether it is considered to be a commercial website? What does anyone else think? Regards Helen |

I've now starting to make the site for all of us, it's upto you whether you want to use my site to contribute your saved pages etc. Just thought I'd let you know - Happy hunting all :) (I did say ONLY just started, so will give you the url when I've added my pieces... will accept Census images.. I'll ask ancestry for permission first! lol) |

Tried www.ukbdm.co.uk and registered user name and password, but when you go back in to log in it says site unavailable. Any suggestions? Julie Lowey Isle of Man |
