I am looking for some help - I am looking for Richard Thomas 1848-1894 married to Ann 1834-1905 born in Buttington, Welshpool, Powys. I am looking for his parents any help would be most appriecated. Diolch yn fawr - (Thankyou in welsh.)

Just looked again, on my first message the top census entry, although living in Shropshire, they were farmers!! Do you know when Richard and Ann married? Chloe

Chloe I re read the messages and did a double take on the first Thomas, William and Richard. I started jumping up and down thinking this is him, untill my mind went into overtime and thought - Richard was 33 years old right, he was a farmer right, he lived in Buttington, Welshpool right. But what has happened to Ann in 1881 she would of been 48 years old she did not die till 1905 and they had 5 children. So why did she not come up in this household. They married in Buttington, Welshpool I believe. They lived at Garbetts Hall in Buttington. Thanks Chloe. Lisa

Annoyingly, neither of them are living at that hall place or in Buttington!?! Chloe

Chloe Rang my Aunt just know and she gave me Richards DOB wrong. He was born 1838. The second before last entry you gave me hits the right family. They had a daughter Mary -1865, John 1867, William 1868, Richard 1871 and Sara who I did not know her date of birth. But I just checked again with her to make sure and they did live in Garbetts Hall. On the census 1901 Garbetts hall listed Ann as head (Richard had died in 1894) Mary, John, Richard. What do you think? Lisa

Thomas is a really common surname, as is the name Richard!! I don't know. The ages of the children seem to match but they stayed in Garbett's Hall..... what about a Welsh name for Garbett's Hall? Or perhaps it wasn't called that in 1881. You'd probably have to do more research around the Hall..... and the place, is that any close to Buttington? Perhaps they moved out of there for a few years... I don't know. It's possibly them, but it might not be. Not the best person to ask I'm afraid. Chloe

Lisa, someone has kindly found them on the 1891 and where they were born in 1881 matches 1891... if that makes any sense! They';re living in Garbett's Hall in 1891! So I think we've found them! Chloe
