Sylvie - Re your kind offer for GFH -are the parish records of Bitton/Oldland there as I'm trying to find the birth of an Esther BRYANT c 1805 and Thomas MCCARTHY c 1799. If not another brick wall is Kempsford and the birth of a JOHN GOSLING c 1793 and his marriage c1813 to a Mary ?. If none of these I have a JOHN GOSLING living Gloucester City aged 81 in 1901 and can't find when he died - must be pretty soon after this census! I have the 1841 Gloucestershire census without index if you need anything checked. Jan |

Hi Sylvie Thanks for your kind offer. If the records for Fairford, Gloucester are there maybe you can solve a mystery for me: I have a William Hunt who according to the IGI was born 25-Oct-1810 in Fairford, and married an Ann Telling 12-Oct-1834. The IGI also records six children born to William Hunt & Ann between 1835 & 1845. The eldest of these, John, was to become my g-g-grandfather. The problem is, that in the 1851 & 1861 censuses, William's wife is listed as Sarah! There is nothing on IGI for another marriage for William, but neither is there a death for Ann. Therefore, I do not know whether William's first wife (Ann) died, and he later married Sarah, or whether Sarah & Ann are the same person. If there is another marriage between a William Hunt & a Sarah, or maybe a death of Ann Hunt between 1845 & 1851, that would really help me to work it out. Any info on the Hunt's or Tellings would be very useful. William & Sarah ran a grocers shop in Fairford & are listed in the directories from 1858. Many many thanks, Richard |

Hi Sylvie, thanks for your very generous offer. You may be able to solve a puzzle for me. My ggg grandfather was James Griffiths, born abt 1844, possibly East Dean Area. He married Harriet. I have been told her maiden name was MUCK and she was born abt 1846 Lea Bailey Hill, Gloucester. I can't find a Harriet Muck but can find a Harriet Meek. Would it be possible for you to look for a marriage between James Griffiths and Harriet Muck/Meek. The first child that I am aware of, Elizabeth was born abt 1868 in High Beech, Gloucester, so I imagine it could be between 1860 to 1868 ish. many thanks in advance, Jenny |

Hi Morfydd Yes I did and I posted the results with the others. If you look back you should find it - I can't remember at the moment but I don't think it was a very revealing search. I'm trying to remeber when I went in the the office - I think it was last Monday so have a look for the thread on that date - If not the result you wanted - ask me again (on here not by emai). I think I recall not being too sure what you wanted! Sylvie |

I'd be interested if a date of death for a William Kirby c 1897 poss age : 70- 75 His wife was Ellen ( nee Rees) .If your looking at census forms could you look for william on the 1851/61 or 71 please. He was born c1822- 1827 - there is confusion as to where as on the 1881 census it says Pontypool and yet on the 1891 census it says County Limerick Ireland?!?! Also a birth date for his son Charles Edward Kirby b Cloister Charlton Kings 1877 ( this is our grt grandfather ). Any info on the above would be wonderful. Thank you again for your time, trouble and kindness. Much happiness Debi |

Hello Sylvie We had the most wonderful weekend when we visited the Gloucestshire FH Fair and then went on to the Forest of Dean area where my grandfather was born. Overwhelming information from those in the area but I really need to find the marriage of my g.grandfather Henry Burns (often shown as Bourne) who married Mary Ann from 1859 backwards! I know that he had a daughter in 1859 but not sure whether she was the first child. He was born around 1830 and his wife around 1833. They would had married in the West Dean/ English Bicknor area. Any information would be wonderful. Many thanks Gill |

Hi Sylvie I just sent you an email cos I was bursting with excitement that someone had told me there was a will and some correspondence for Richard Hodges CARTER at Glos RO. However, I just noticed that you're going to the FHS so realise you're going to a different place. The lady who wrote to me confirmed though that Richard was father to all Ellen COLD(E)RICK's 11 children even though they never married. Wahay! So my hunch was right! Never mind! Hopefully I will be able to get there myself in the summer holidays. Thanks for what you've done so far. |
