Find Ancestors

Hi All, Anyone like a challenge, or should I say a permanent headache?. My G / G Grandmother's father was a Henry Wannell, born in Topsham, Devon died 3/1/1919, word of mouth through the family was that he was one of twenty one children ??? , - whether they all survived is in doubt, and how many wives we do not know. Henry Herbert Wannell was born 18th Nov 1827 Topsham, Devon, died 3rd Jan 1919 in London,- Camberwell I think ?, and buried 11 Jan 1919 in Streatham Park Cemetery, - his wife was Mary Ann, thats ALL the info I have I'm afraid, sorry!. Those children will be difficult to verify unless you buy certificates as this was all before the mother's maiden name was included on 1837 online. Here's a possible marriage, he would have been 57yrs old. WOW I'm so jealous, thought I had hit the jackpot with 16. good luck with your research, it gets a little confusing when you find children with same name then you realise the first one obviously died and they decided to use the name again! Good luck Barbara

John - just think of the problems you'd have if the surname was Smith or Jones!! At least Wannell is fairly uncommon. Jools

Jools, Thanks Jools, if it was a SMITH or JONES, but as to yet I have not had a common name like that, ..... but, you never know....... Smith or Jones may yet show in the family line......... I / We thought we had an uncommon name on my mother's side, Wentzell, but have since found although it has a Czech,- origin, Wentzell in or on German lines is as common as Smith/ Jones, - just check out the Wentzell website.
