Find Ancestors

Could anyone look up in the 1891 census for John Ree aged 9 born Nov 1882 Hentland/Hoarwithy in Herefordshire please, I have found his parents in this census but he was not with them, the name may well have been misspelt as Rea. Thank you.

Hi Sam and Shan His parents are William and Jane, in the 1881 census they were living in Hoarwithy with his siblings, Fanny, Richard, William, Albert and Mary. On freebmd I have found all sibling other than Mary who I cannot find at all. Thanks Sue

Yes, it was November 1882 in Hentland/Hoarwithy, on the 1901 census he was boarding in Wales, working on the railway. Sorry taking so long to reply at work and the phone keeps ringing! Thanks for your help Sue Just had a thought his sister Fanny married an Albert Edward Price, wondered maybe he was with her. Sue

Still no luck at the mo, but I'm still looking, He would actually have been 8 in April 1891, not 9 until the November. I know the census ages aren't spot on, but just thought I'd mention that Sam

Thank you for taking so much trouble. Its just curiosity really I have his birth and marriage certificates so I know abit about his life but when i found he wasn't with his parents in 1891 it seemed odd. Sue

Of course it could have been a simple mistake made by the transcriber. William Jane & Richard are the last three on the census page, perhaps John was missed off when the next page was started. I have checked and it is a new head + family. I cannot see him on 1901 either!!! What name is he under, not Rea or Ree.

Found him in 1901 in Glamorgan aged 18 with no other Ree, place of birth Hentland, This was using the decoder Still no luck with the 1891 Shan

Think i agree with Sammy, cause it's not only John missing on 1891 it's william Alfred Mary and John. Have you managed to find any of the others Sammy Shan

Hi Shan No, I didn't even attempt the others, I assume Susan has knowledge of their whereabouts. BTW looking for him with Fanny & Albert Price proved to be a wild goose chase, they didn't marry until 1893! I'm afraid that's me done, I really think he's been missed off, unless he's with grandparents, do you have their names Susan, Jane's maiden name maybe? or have you been down that route yourself? Sam
