Hi, I would love to take you up on your kind offer of a look-up on the '41 census for Oxford. I'm looking for a John Ashfield, born about 1827, so he would be about 14 years old. He was born in Nettlebed, oxon. I'm hoping he'll still be there. I know he moved to Bermondsey, London at some point, but not sure if moved with his parents as a child, or when he got married in 1856. Many thanks Paula

Jane I found this family of Mings on Oxon 1871. Living at 3 Bridge St,St Thomas,Oxford Thomas Ming 61 Groom b Newbridge,Oxon Mary Ming 67 Wife b Abingdon,Berkshire Edwin Ming 36 Son Groom b Kingston,Berkshire As it is such an unusual name could this be your Edwin? Neither 1851 or 61 censuses are indexed and to search Thame,Northmoor and possibly Oxford will take some time,so if you want me to look you will have to bear with me. Regards Mary

Hello Mary Thank you for your kind offer. I wonder if you could look up any Ming family mambers in Oxon. I know there were some there. Specific names are Michael Ming, Edwin Ming, Emma Ming. They may have been in the Northmoor or Thame area. Maybe the 1851 or 1861? Thanks very much for any clues. The Ming name is not common so a name search will probably not come up with much. All the best Jane
