Jane, It all seems to be fitting together. You should ask for a 1930 census lookup for them. There are a few people on the boards who have access to the US census collection. If they had some sons I might be able to track down some living rellies for you. Crista

Jane, It looks like she must have met him during WW1. All the women on her boat were army wives. Might be worth looking at 1837online for 1815-1819 starting with the later years and working back. Crista

Thanks Chloe - It ties in with some stuff I have - good to have dates. I haven't looked at the Ellis Island records - Nellie was English but her husband was - and came from Maryland, 'America, so I think it was just a matter of going back with him when they married - if I could just find the marriage record I could make sure I had his name correct

Jane, There's a record on Ellis Island that fits. A Nellie Boswell sailed for the US in 1919 and she was 31. She was heading to Glenecho, MD and looks like she was married to a Charles Edward who was in the army. Crista

Ignore the 1881 thing I put up, not the right person at all.... 10 years out! I'm sleepy!!! LOL I think this one is more likely to be correct: Household: Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability John INGS Head M Male 28 Estbourne, Wiltshire, England Agricultural Laborer Ann INGS Wife M Female 26 Thitchgrove, Wiltshire, England Agricultural Laborer Wife Mary Jane INGS Daur Female 6 Moor Court, Hampshire, England Scholar William INGS Son Male 4 Moor Court, Hampshire, England Scholar Edward INGS Son Male 2 Moor Court, Hampshire, England -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source Information: Dwelling Dairy House Census Place Romsey Extra, Hampshire, England Family History Library Film 1341300 Public Records Office Reference RG11 Piece / Folio 1225 / 9 Page Number 11

Nellie might be a nickname for something. One of my relatives was born Helen but called Nellie. But Nellie can also be a given name too. Confusing. It's like my 'Aunt Cissie' - I have no idea which one of my grandmother's aunts she is!! Anyway, do you have these? 1881? (possibly John Ings) Household: Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability John INGS Head M Male 38 Ford, Wiltshire, England Grocer (8) Elizabeth INGS Wife M Female 38 Hurdcott, Wiltshire, England Emma INGS Daur Female 17 Hurdcott, Wiltshire, England Domestic Serv Unemp Tom INGS Son Male 13 Hurdcott, Wiltshire, England Agricul Serv Florence INGS Daur Female 8 Odstock, Wiltshire, England Scholar -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source Information: Dwelling Farm Cottage Census Place Fugglestone St Peter, Wiltshire, England Family History Library Film 1341500 Public Records Office Reference RG11 Piece / Folio 2073 / 4 Page Number 2

re Nellie's name - she is on the 1901 Census as Nellie so I can only assume that was her given name

Jane

Jane Report 1 Oct 2004 19:33

Chloe Thanks Refer to it as Hampshire England because I keep getting US sites when I just put Hampshire so it's become habit !!! ha ha Anyway - she was born in Romsey but I think she could have been living in the Northam area of Southampton around the time she got married. Thanks for your reply XX

Where have you looked? Whereabouts was she born in Hants? Chloe (who lives in Hampshire) PS - I love it the way you refer to the place as "Hampshire England" all the time. ;-) To me, it's just Hampshire!! There's only the one!! New Hampshire is New Hampshire... anyway will shut up now.

Would anyone please be able to look up the marriage on Nellie Ings. She was born in 1888 in Hampshire England. Her Father was John and Mother Annie. She married in Hampshire England before leaving for Maryland with her American husband. I believe his name was Boswell - but cant be sure of this - cant find any records! Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks
