Hello Louise Sorry, the list doesn't tell me who he was living with. Perhaps someone on the Genes site could look it up in the actual census for you.

Hi Ann, I'd like to take you up on your very generous offer, please. Looking for the following family in 1861. Ages approx in 1861. William NOON 34, bn Shepshed, Leics Sarah NOON 38, bn Arnold, Notts Samuel NOON, 11, bn Arnold, Notts Joseph NOON, 2/3, bn Arnold, Notts. The next child I have listed was bn 1864 in Belper, Derby. Hello Anne, My grandfather Stephen Harrison appears on the 1891 census as living in Pilsley Derbyshire, he also got married there in 1901, (I do have his marriage certificate) although I cant find him on the 1901 census. I cant find his birth, I was wondering if he appears on any of the records that you hold, he was born 1856 approximately because his age on the marriage certificate is 45 and his father's name is Thomas. Thanks June

Hello Louise The only Samuel Taylor is on the 1851 census, in the Chesterfield area, piece no 2147. He is down as Sam Taylor, is aged 15, and was born Radford. Doesn't appear to be living with any other Taylors born in Nottingham. Don't know whether this is your man, as you didn't tell me where/when he was born. By the way, the only Taylor in either Clowne or Barlborough, born in Notts, is in the 1851, Eliza Taylor, born Langwith and aged 45. Piece no 2122.

Hello Louise The lists aren't arranged by place name. If you can just give me the name of who you are looking for, I will have a look.

Hello Mavis There is a John Ford (no mention of Hiram), aged 28, born Arnold, Nottingham, living in the Chesterfield, Derbys area on the 1851. He may be living with Mary Ford, aged 48, born Arnold, but this is not clear. Neither is the reference for the census, although it's Piece no 2147, and the reference quoted is CHE675 (don't know whether this is the folio number). If you think this could be your John, perhaps somebody could look up on the actual census. Hope this helps!

Hi Ann thanks for the offer of look up. I am trying to find on the 1871 Census Harriet Masding/Marsden aged 15 born Coddington, Notts. Can't find her on the Notts Census for that year. If you could locate her it would be wonderful. Thanks Barbara

Hello Helen Sorry, no trace of your William Harris.

Helen

Helen Report 21 Oct 2004 13:45

Hello Ann. Can I take you up on your offer please. I'm struggling to trace WILLIAM HARRIS, who was born in Cotgrave, Notts in 1841. I have him in 1851. In 1862 he married in Tideswell, in Derbyshire, but wasn't there in 1861. The family had left Tideswell by the 1871 census, and may be in Yorkshire. I would be most grateful for any help with this elusive man Thanks Helen
