You MUST save the image as a Jpeg FIRST ... then send. I'll write all the instructions out ...as Geoff Everitt so very very kindly explained them to me ... its SO easy when you know how ! but my son is shouting at me as its bed time. Back tomorrow ! Elaine :-) |

HOW TO SAVE & SEND AN IMAGE -------------------------------------- Firstly, make a new folder and give it a name - I have one on my desktop called Census Images .. this is where you will save the images to, so you know where to find them. BUT you can save the images to where ever you personally want to. When you have the image on screen: 1) press "Ctrl" & "L" together - this enlarges the image to fit the screen 2)Press "Print Scrn/SysRq" (this button is on the keyboard - top row - between F12 & Scroll Lock - You will assume that nothing has happened - BUT IT HAS ! 3) Press "Esc" ... your image should have disappeared and you should just have the census page on screen. By going through the Start menu ...Open up an image Programme - I use "PAINT" 1)Go to EDIT and this should give you a drop down menu: go down to PASTE and click. You should now have the image on screen again. 2) Go to File and then down to "save as" and click A box should appear in which you can name and save the image. At the top of the box is a SAVE IN: use the down arrow option button at the end of this row to give you more options, find "Desktop" and double click ...this should now give you all the files that are on your desktop. (Change Desktop to the location of YOUR choice if not desktop) Go down to the new file you named when we first started, and double click on it. Save IN: should now read Census Images 3) Go to the FILE NAME and type in the name you want to give this image ...(if you had saved me one from 1851 to do with my Thomasson's (I wish !) - you could name it "Elaine - Thomasson 1851") 4) SAVE AS TYPE : you MUST alter this to JPEG by using the down arrow option button at the end of the row , open the drop down menu and select JPEG (*JPG *JPEG *JPE) Now check, Save In: Census Images File Name: Elaine - Thomasson 1851 Save as type: JPEG If your happy ....press save. That Box should now have disappeared and you should still have the Image (Paint) programme on your screen. Close it down. You should have the Census Page up on screen .. shut or shrink this. Are you back to your desktop ? If so ..double click on the folder you made named Census Images ...you should see an icon - possibly a paint pot ? with the name Elaine - Thomasson 1851. If its there then you have Saved the image. If you have finished with your census disc ...then shut all that down now ! TO SEND ! Before sending the e.mail .. use the "Attachment" button ... if you click on the attachment button, it should open up a box named Insert Attachment LOOK IN: use the arrow button at the end of this row to open up the drop down menu to give you more options. Select DESKTOP and double Click (or the location of the image you have just saved) The file you made earlier should now appear on another list ..so select Census Images and double click .... find the file you want to send and double click The Box should have disappeared and you should now be back with your e.mail. But now in the ATTACH row on the e.mail you should have the Icon with the name of the Image ! this is now ready to send ... This seems very long winded but honestly, once you have done it a few times, its so easy and quick. I'm NOT good at explaining how to do things ... I could show you a lot quicker !! Obviously, you DON'T have to make a folder on your desktop, and you can save the image to where ever you want ... this suggestion is for guidance purposes only ! Sue, Try one on me ! Elaine :-) |
