Thanks for looking Chloe. I don't think this is the same family. The ages don't match for the head/wife. Hmmmm... |

PS, how certain are you of their ages on 1901? Have you seen the image? Is it dead clear? It might be a mistranscription or the census person took it down wrong to begin with. |

It definitely is the same family (well seems to be) as the 1881, and the ages are all cocked up. Could they have been messed up by transcription??? |

Chloe, again - the ages don't match of the parents (in comparison to the 1901 census ages anyway). But this one makes a bit more sense to me. Daniel's age matches and they are in Newbottle which they are in 1901. Also in 1901 he is 23 and the only child and it seemed odd that the parents would wait that long to have their first child (Harriet would have been 44). So it makes sense that he had elder brother/sisters but they'd left home by 1901. Any luck for McLinden in 1881 then? Wonder whyt they dropped the Mc - to get away from the Irish roots living in ENgland at the time? |

Only McLinden's on 1881: 1881 British Census - 4 Select records to download - (50 maximum) 1. Patrick MCLINDEN - 1881 British Census / York Stepson Gender: Male Birth: <1861> Gainsborough, Lincoln, England 2. Henry MCLINDEN - 1881 British Census / York Stepson Gender: Male Birth: <1865> Boscough, Lancashire, England 3. Mary MCLINDEN - 1881 British Census / York Step Daur Gender: Female Birth: <1868> Clifford, York, England 4. Felix MCLINDEN - 1881 British Census / York Gender: Male Birth: <1863> Lancashire, England You're right about the ages, I find that confusing too. Have you seen the 1901 image? How many Harriet and Thomas Lindens can there be?! LOL Looked for the Linden's using the ages given for the children. And the only ones that are coming up are from the entry I've posted. |

Chloe, yes I have the 1901 image - ages very clear! They seem to be all over the place (the ages) on all 3 of the census'. Would you mind mailing the images to me for 1881/1891? I wonder where they got Denis from?! :-) If you're OK I can PM you my mail address. |

Chloe, have you noticed the ages of the first 4 children only increase by 3/4 years from the 1881 to 1901 census? Very odd! Have you seen anything like this before? |

Not at all! I'm at a loss. They might well have lied, or just not been heard properly. |

There's also two Catherine's. Must be a re-marriage in there. Maybe he only married women called Harriet?! :-) |

Maybe!!! Fancy having two daughters both called Catherine.... this one is confusing. Thomas on the 1901 has aged properly. Have sent images. |

Hi Chloe - Thanks for the images. DO you reckon on the 1901 census it could be Thomas W. Linden (and not Thomas McLinden)?! |
