Hi Jaquie, I might send for it eventually, I'm too engrossed in finding out about one of my dads supposed great aunts. her name was Lillian Sarah Noble, can't find her anywhere on this planet, I know she existed because I actualy remember her. She was suposed to have been born in Lancashire in 1885, her parents names are meant to be Thomas Noble b in bramham yorks and Hannah Noble b whitchurch shropshire. But! I have the family listed on the 1901 census as their 1st child being Elizabeth b 1888 in eccles. One of their children is called Hannah b 1889 and the family tree my dad has written there is an Annie and not a Hannah, I assume this is the same person as the name is so similar. A family mystery maybe, possibly even a relatives child. :) I've been waiting for a family scandal hahaha Johnathon, thanks for having a look for me :) Sarah, the bevvie sounds a good possibility haha :) Maria

Hi Maria, Have just looked at the 1881 image and there is nothing written in the relationship column at all for Edith so guess the transcriber had to put 'other' rather than leave a blank. There is another child further down the page with a blank in that colum - perhaps the enumerator was getting tired by the time he wrote that page up :-)

has anyone any idea why, in a census record a child would be registered as other instead of son or daughter? I have 1881 census, William David Noble, head, m, age 24, Lizzie Noble, wife, m, age 23 and Edith Noble, other (not son or daughter) aged 1 year. Do you think this child could be adopted?
