Find Ancestors

I am trying to find out about the parents and siblings of Sarah Anne Wass. I believe she was born in 1851, possibly in Essex. She married William Everitt in December 1876 in Tendring, Essex (chap 4a, pg 456), and went on to have a few children including Ellen Everitt. But I am unable to find out anything else about her before this time. Any help would be most appreciated. Gayle

Are you sure she was born in Essex? Nothing showing up on 1871 so far.

Sorry about that - I got a bit confused! Thank you for looking for me. I'm beginning to think that although she married in Essex and her husband William Everitt's family are all from Essex, maybe she was born elsewhere. It doesn't really help.

Shouldn't be that hard in 1871 but can't find any Sarah or Sarah Anne's by that name and age,anywhere! The only likely candidate is Sarah Wass age 21 born Underwood,Nottingham. Will have another look for mis-transcriptions Have you got her on 1881 with birthplace??? There are a couple of William and Sarah's with slightly different ages for Sarah. Any children's names,please. If I can identify her on 1881 it will be so much easier. Tricia

She married William Everitt in December 1876, Tendring, Essex. They had the following children, Maurice WD Everitt Mary Everitt Ellen Everitt Emerson Everitt Does this help?

Ok I'm confused now. I thought I had found William Everitt on the 1871 census as being the son of Matilda Everitt (44) and Henry Everitt (52), with his siblings being George Everitt (7), Mark Everitt (5), Samuel Everitt (19) and Sarah A Everitt (11). They were all born in Ardleigh Essex, and lived at Crockleford Heath, where later Ellen Everitt (Sarah and William's daughter) (my dad's grandmother) lived. I don't know whether I am right or not.

Now , a mystery - because the only Maurice WD Everitt on 1881 is this one!!!!1881 England Census records matching your search for Maurice W. D. This is definately the right family. They appear on the 1901 census too. And I have Ellen Everitt's birth certificate which shows her mother as being Sarah Anne Wass. But apart from Sarah's marriage, I cannot find any further information.

Maybe if I got a copy of the marriage certificate of Sarah and Henry it might shed some light. Thank you so much for spending your time looking for me. Its very kind of you.

They are alive and well(as it were) on 1891 living The Lye,Elmstead - mistranscribed as Everitt William 35 born Ardleigh Sarah a 42 elmstead Maurice 10 Ardleigh Mary 8 Ardleigh Ellen 6 Ardleigh Emerson. 3 (possibly months)? born Elmstead My computer has closed down 6 times in the last few minutes and now won't let me see any more information. Still have the problem of where Sarah is in 1871. Must be mistranscribed but haven't picked her up yet

I think this may be Sarah Ann's family in 1871 with her not at home. I have found Sarah in 1871 mistranscribed as Wares and visiting her Uncle in London with John Wass who may be her brother. I have cross referenced these names under Wares and Wass on 1881 and am sure it is her. It is starting to make sense now. All names should read as Wass.
