Hello All. Would anyone be able to help me at all by having a look at Sheffield for my Elizabeth Adams who should be aged around 15 and born Milton, Yorkshire. Im sorry i cant be more specific in the area or the road. She may have a sibling called Alice Adams who was a witness at her 2nd marriage. She was in the Brightside area in 1881 with her first husband Charles but not sure if thats where she would be in 1871. Any help greatly received. Thanks. Claire |

Hi to you both, im not sure if either of those are her. I dont think she is on Ancestry as they havnt put Sheffield on there yet. Looking at the marriage cert (and its very hard to read!!) Her father looks like he could be called David. Will keep a check on Alice though, that could be her. Regards, Claire |

Im confused with it Lou, i never know whats included and what isnt as most of mine are not, lol. Wish i could be more specific and be able to narrow her down a little. Think will have to look for the marriage certificate of her first marriage and see where she is. Claire |

Claire Could Alice Adams have been her cousin, perhaps, and that's why the father is different? I've checked all the David Adams residing in Yorkshire and the only one who has an Elizabeth, she's on 3wks old so that deffo isn't her. Lou |

Claire Have you asked whether anyone can do an 1861 look-up for you? At the age of 15, she could well have been a servant in another household, but at the age of 5 there's a high possibility she was with Mum and Dad. In this instance, it might be a good idea to start a bit further back and work forward Sorry I can't be of more help Lou |

I didnt think if that Lou, that is a good idea i think. Do you know where Melton/Milton is in Yorkshire as all census i have for her so far say she is born there but is always living in Sheffield? Regards, Claire |

Claire Getting her marriage cert might be a good idea. You might find that in 1871 she's living in the same house as on her marriage cert. That's certainly been the case with several of mine recently Let me know how you get on, this has been a nice Sunday morning challenge. Just a shame we didn't crack it! Lou |

Hi there, For the record, 'Milton' was in the Hoyland Nether, as I have several members of my tree that were born in this area. However, there was a 'Melton' not too far away but I'm thinking that this might actually be in the Rotherham area? Hope that this may help rather than hinder! |

Hi Annette, thanks for that. Im thinking the Nether Hoyland is more likely to be the one as ive found something that looked like it was crossed out and had Hoyland written over it. That would explain things. Thank you, Claire |
