Added by Lancashire Lou on 14/01/2005 01:06:05 So maybe we should be looking for a birth for Annie Matilda Poole....................... Noone can find my Annie Matilda Overs 1885 Walsall birth reg.....We have found that she was born before marriage and that possibly taken her mothers maiden name of POOLE.....can anyone help me? Annie POOLE.....Matilda POOLE ...Annie matilda POOLE or Matilda Annie POOLE......If I can get this solved it will open so many doors for others too. Gerri x

Gerri Morning babe! Annie POOLE was a suggestion due to the fact its looking likely from the info we found last night that she was born BEFORE Mummy and Daddy got hitched. If that's the case then chances are she was registered with her mothers surname. I went round in circles for months looking for one of my ggrandfathers. 2 wrong birth certs later, I discovered he was registered with his mothers surname cos his parents didn't marry till he was 3. So Poole is a distinct possibility...IF she was born April 1885 as you suspect. HOWEVER, I did have a quick look on ancestry last night before I went to bed and couldn't find a birth for Annie Matilda/Matilda Annie Poole either that would fit! Lou

Gerri I'm beginning to think she wasn't registered. I know it was compulsary then and she should have been but..... If her birth date on her gravestone is April 1885 then she should have a birth reg for around that time under one or the other name. Do you have her marriage cert yet to see what maiden name is on there? Lou

MrsBucketBouquet Report 14 Jan 2005 11:35

Lou.. This was Cristas last post last night..... -------------------------------------- You know what? If she were born April 23rd 1885 then she should be 5 on the census as it was taken at the end of March. Perhaps she was born in 1884 after all. ------------------------------------- Then we said night night to the satalitte man and went to bed lol

Oh yes, deffo. They had a certain period of time to register her so if she was born April and they didn't do it till say mid to the end of June, it would have gone in next qtrs returns! I have one born 8th Feb but he wasn't registered till June Qtr! Lou
