Just wondering if anyone out there can help at all. I have just obtained copies of GGG Grandparents marriage certificate but unfortunately there is no father noted for the husband JOHN LAWRANCE. I found records for 1871 which has his father down as John Lawrance but no mother. Their is a woman living there called Mary Ireland and in the 1891 census she is marked down as mother to John Lawrence. When John married my GGG Grandmother Kate Worsfold he called himself John Lawrence Ireland. Can anyone help me with this tangled confusing tale? Who was John Lawrences mother and did his father end up marrying Mary Ireland. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Nerolee,
Do you any indication as to the county involved. I ask, as I have some knowledge of a John Lawrence/Lawrance and a Mary Ireland but that all took place in Surrey.
John Lawrence [c1821] married Mary Ireland [c1831] a widower who had a daughter also Mary.
Frank Lawrance [c1847 son of John above] , married Mary Ireland [born C 1853 daughter of Mary above] in May 1869 at The Church, Okewood , Surrey.. He a labourer, she a servant. Witnessed by John Lawrence [ labourer] & James Ireland [labourer] in presence of Seth Etherington & Fanny Rice.
They had 13 Children of which my grandfather Frederick was the middle child [7]. Frank was alive in 1930 as he witnessed changes to Frederick's birth details i.e., LawrAnce to LawrEnce.
Census 1901: Frank 53 a labourer in a mushroom quarry, living with wife Mary 47, daughters Fanny 15 & Bessie 9, sons Philip 17, Victor 13, William 11 Sydney 4 and adopted Gertrude Lewis 2 - all in St Nicholas, Godstone Surrey.
Not sure if this helpful or not.
