Can anyone help me with the Champneys from the Barnsley outskirts? If anyone has access to 1841, 1851 or 1861 censuses, I would like to know the ages and birthplaces of their parents, John and Mary I have Charles born about 1833, William 1835, Elizabeth 1839, Ann 1842, John 1844, Emma 1847, Hannah 1849, Mary 1852 and Margaret 1854. All these were born in Darfield, Wombwell, Brampton or Broomhill and all christened in Darfield. |

I did look on the 61 index before, but they were not there. The index is not complete though. Sorry, didn't want you to think you were being ignored .Linda |

I am feeling kind today- normally ratty as h***. So I will search the 1841 census disc for you.Darfield seems to be spread over several sections, it is never easy. The discs have no name or street index, it is a matter of trawling through the images one by one. So to help me could you please give me as much information as you can on who I might find. What was the last area, parish etc. I assume that you have them on the 1971 census. I need to narrow this down as much as possible. Linda. Just read the message on the top, so I know who I am looking for , but the last address etc would help |

The people that I think, but am not sure might be her parents are John from Clayton in the Clay or Clayton with Frickley or vice versa. They were living in Little Houghton in 1871 I think, i'll just check that, sorry and thanks for looking, Jon. |

Don't think this is going to help you, but a John and Mary (the ones that are we have been looking at) were in 1881 living in Little Houghton, he was an ag lab and in his mid 60s. |

I assume I am only looking for the name Champney. I have found a couple of the areas,so off I go, I may be some time! Also over half of the images on this census are useless because the pigment in the ink has faded to nothing, so I am not promising anything, but I will do my best. |

Thanks again even if you can't find anything. Is there anything I can help your research with? I have ancestry, an 1861 disc for Saddleworth and Huddersfield I think and live in Cornwall if there's anything I can help you with here, Jon. |

Clayton in Frtickley has faded away, Little Houghton is very bad, but I can't see anything. I think I have found one in Great Hoighton, but it may be Chambers. I will save the image, if I can remember how, it has to go into Photoshop to make it small enough to send. I will need you to send me your email address .I will keep looking in the meantime. Linda |

I have saved the other one, but now I get a good look at it, i am certain it is Chambers - I think. I just found Little H, all clear, they are not there. i am just starting 36 pages of Wombswell, it doesn't look in good condition though |

You can't display emails on this page, it has to go through the other message. No message has arrived yet, it always seems to take a while to get through. I checked the rest of Wombswell hoping their might be some parents, but I am afraid there are not, that would have been too easy. It is John 30 Ag lab, Mary 30, William 5, Elizabeth 1. Pretty pathetic for all that looking, still you know when they were born now, Still no email message from you. |
