Does anyone out there have access to the 1872 census for Kensington and, if so, is it possible to just search on an address. I would like to find out who lived at 21 Victoria Grove, Kensington in 1871. ThanX

Do you know who you're looking for Sheila as the 1871 census is not searchable by address. Nikki

No Nikki, I dont. My ancestor was employed at this address in 1878 but had returned to Scotland by 1879. As it seems a very grand address I just wanted to know who her employer was. I do know who lived there in 1861 as I got that from 1837 online maybe you could check his name and see if he as still there in 1871. He was a Charles Lavender aged 67 in 1861 with his wife Sarah (66 in 1861) and his daughter Sarah lavender (27 in 1861) If this family is still there in 1871 then they may have been my ancestor's employers in 1878. thanX from Sheila

Ok, no Charles Lavenders in 1871 of the right age I have found a Sarah Lavender who is widowed & of the right age but she is living on her own at 64 Marigold Street in Bermondsey.

ThanX again, Charles Lavender has prob. cast off his mortal coil by 1871 when he would have been 77. Do you know of any other way of checking who where the occupants of 21 Victoria Grove in 1871? ThanX again, Sheila

Hi Joan only just back online to find your response of 2nd April. I find that Eliz Turley on the 1871 census in not related to me however, there seems to be a possible family connection to the Ashfords who were at 21 Victoria Grove, Kensington in 1881 which I am now looking into so thank you all for helping me on this one. Im sure I'll soon be back with more questions!
