Margaret I'm possibly missing something here BUT if he was born in 1856 and you don't know his parents names, why do you need an 1851 look up??? Lou |

Margaret I understand that and I'm more than willing to look for you. I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for when he wasn't born in 1851 and we have no parents names to look for. What is the father's name and the address from the marriage cert? Lou |

Hi Lou, I'm sorry I didn't realise that , you can tell I am new to this, I have only been a member since February, in 81 he was at 8 Manor St and worked with glass so it will really be 71 I should have asked for, I live in Scotland my father was born in St Helens , it is his side I am trying to find out about, the records office I think is in Southport, I guess his birth certificate would have that information on it, do you know if i can send for it on line somewhere? Hi Margaret You can order his birth cert online from www.gro.gov.uk. Depending on when his parents married, you may find one or both of them at the addie on the cert in 1851. If not, it would be a good starting point for the 1861. It might also be worth putting a new thread up asking for an 1871 look up on the 8 Manor Street address, you might be lucky and find him there although if he got married in between, possibly not! Or whether someone can find anyone with that name the right age and give his occupation as a clue! Hope that helps! Lou |

This is the reference for his marriage March Year: 1876 District: Prescot County: Lancashire Volume: 8b Page: 851 Darlington, John MEE, Alice Knowing this you can order his marriage certificate from the site that Lou told you about. the certificate will have both his and her fathers names and occupations on it so that will help you to go backwards with your search. Certificates cost £7. As we can't find him on the 1871 census, this might be your only solution. Linda. |
