Thanks everyone, I am on the phone to mum now bugging her again for more info. She says he was born in Sheffield and lived in a row of cottages in Sandygate road, Crookes. Mum thinks he died about 1958 now and he was about 75 when he died so that would make him about 15ish in 1901. Thanks so so so much again Zoe

This is interesting, because mum seems to think he could possibly be a groom, she just remembers him wearing his pyjamas under his clothes, bless him lol. So do we think Clara was his mother ? Thanks more and more Zoe

Oh my, what a lot of info it is not fair we can't see the census for after 1901 because I could double check, as I know Percy had sons Harold, Harry, Christopher and daughters Mable, Dora and Edith. I have also found out that he married 3 times. Thanks again Zoe :))))))))))))

I just wanted to let everybody know that you have found the right Percy, Hooray everyone likes to here about success. My mum says his father did die young and all his sisters are correct. I can't find anything about his son's Harold, Harry and Christopher though and Christopher was my grandad who I never met he died when my mum was only 15 in 1967. I was at his grave on Sunday and my 18 month old daughter was picking daisies and putting them (or should I say throwing) them on his grave, bless her. Thanks again and again Zoe

You're welcome, glad it's the right info. I only live across the valley from Crookes/Sandygate, in Stannington, and local lookups always catch my eye.

Zoe Report 4 Apr 2005 11:09

Hi all just to let you know I am going to crookes and surrounding grave yards today to see what I can find. Also mum wants to check if his cottage is still there on Sandygate Lane. If I can be of any help to anyone please let me know. Thanks for all your help Zoe :)

Hi Robin Hood, First of all thank yo so much for finding this information out. You are not going top believe this but my mum mentioned he lived on Sandygate road, and we have been driving up and down it today. We couldn't find it but now I have the address and also his occupation. What is the Kelly's directory, and does it state any other family living there he had 6 children(3 girls and 3 boys). Kind Regards Zoe

Robin

Robin Report 4 Apr 2005 18:52

Hi Zoe Kellys Directory is a list of householders ,most but not all. It only shows the head of the household and occupation. What I gave you is all that is listed. The Electoral Register will give you adults who can vote but obviously not the children.

Hi Robin, Can I call you that ? Thanks for that I have had a very productive day. Have been trudging through cemeteries all day so am now having a well deserved rest, well on my pc. I went to the Sheffield Archives today also and guess what they were closed. I will ring before I go again. Many thanks Zoe
