i have a copy of my grandmothers bc. born nov 1900 registered jan 1901.her mothers name on bc is Susannah Hinnigan (spelling varies husband Edward) a relative told me that Susannah (maiden name Mcgowan)died in child birth or shortly afterwards. however on the census march 1901 they are down as hennaghans edward, susan and baby catherine so i presume she was still alive then. i do know my grand mother had later step siblings as i was told her father re -married but when did susannah/susan die and who did edward marry after that. this is all in the county durham area if anyone can help. i know its quite a bit to take on board but can anyone help. thanks

Hi Edwards second marriage could be 1906 but the name is spelt Hinnegan. I got this info from Durham registrars site the only other info is wifes name which is Cecilia Mcgowan which makes me think he has married a sister of Susannah, is there anything on ancestry for this. i will try and get on bmd but computer very slow again.thanks jan

I don't think Susan's parents were too good at maths or geography!

Hi helen thanks for your reply. still on the trail of edwards second marriage. been on bmd 1906 seems to be missing for sedgefield and that was the crucial yr. Furth children seem to be Mary Josephine and julia Hinnighan. My sister can definately remember my grandmother having a step sister called Julia, and my grandmother also named one of her children mary josephine so now its just finding out who was the new wife. jan
