Find Ancestors

Hi. I am trying to find my William Henry Eastwood on this census. He was born in Sheffield in 1869 and his father was also William Henry Eastwood. I have been trying to find him on this and the 1881 census with no luck. Would anyone be able to help at all? many thanks, Claire

Hi Tracy, I am not sure on this one, i think this is indicating that the father is the Geo Allen Eastwood and that is not him. But, it could be a different one so will have to keep notes of this. The 2nd one is not him, the head is called Allen, he was the one i thought was right until i got Williams marriage certificate and it listed William henry as the father as well. Thanks, Claire

You sure he was born in Sheffield? I can't find anyone lol

When it comes to this Guy, Tracy, i have to think twice, lol. I have him on the 1901 census with wife Sarah and child Harriet and he is listed as born Sheffield. On the 1891 census, he isnt there but i have found an entry for Harry Booth which i think is him (known has Harry to friends and Booth was wifes maiden name!!). No sign on 81 or 71. I have sent for the death certificate to make sure that the birth i have located in Sheffield is him. Regards, Claire

I've been through all the births in Yorkshire, and can account for them all in 1871, except him lol

Hi Tracy, I thought i had the right one as well on the 1881 with the father called Allen until i got William's marriage cert which gave the father as William Henry Eastwood as well. I cant see him giving the wrong name but then again, maybe the registrar heard wrong. This man is going to be interesting i think, nan has told me a few stories about him yesterday which has regained my interest in him, lol. Claire xx

I got all excited then with the Harry, lol. I cant believe how long it took me to find this man on the 1891 census and i still havnt proved that it was him. Its only the wifes name that has made me believe i got the right one on that census. C xx

oohh that one looks promising. He called his daughter Harriet as well, maybe after the mother?? Mind you, the Harry on the 1891 has a child called Beatrice which wasnt on the 1901 census and there was a Beatrice Eastwood that died around the right time (fuelling my theory that the Harry Booth was my William Eastwood!!). ooohh i think you have him with the 2nd one......looks like they forgot the William and just put Henry, ooohh now i am excited, cant wait to get home from work and look at this more. xx

I definitely think he prefers Henry/Harry to William lol First one is 1871, 2nd is 1881 :)

You are right there Tracy, even daughter Harriet gave his name as Harry Eastwood on her marriage certificate, that totally through out all my theorys at the time, lol. xx

I think you're right about 1891. She's S.E.A. Booth on the marriage register and 1891. Wonder why he took her name for the census?

I dont have a clue Tracy, but it took me ages to find that, Booth is S E A's maiden name so maybe she gave the details and forgot she had got married, lol. There is a daughter on there as well that has died and i did find a death for a Beatrice Eastwood that fitted the same details along with the birth. Nan remembers William having his mistress, Mrs Bradley, living with him and wife Sarah later in life! Going to be an interesting man i think,lol. xx
