Suzy Thanks the census lists. The Fred LeFranc on the 1901 census is him. I found this too however, I can find no trace of his wife Amy or son Henry. This is where he lists his birth as Oxford St, London. I have looked at the 1837 online site and others for them but can find nothing. It is interesting to note that just 5 years later he is married to m,y Grandmother Christina Munro (1906). C hrissie

Jess Am basing my birth date on the fact that I have a copy of my Grandfather's Marriage and Death Certs which puts his birth date at approx 1868 - 1870. He married in 1906 and died in 1944.

Jess, I don't think so because I found him on the 1901 census as aged 31 living in London with his 'wife' Amy and 5 year old 'son' Henry but again can find no trace of a marriage or birth relating to these two. I do know that this is correct Frederick Lionel because his profession is listed as comedian and I know this is correct. Although five years later in April 1906 he was married to my Grandmother Christina Mary Munro and their first child was born in December 1906. I think the one you have found is a relative as the name is unusual but I don't know where they fit in.

Suzy, Thanks for responding - unfortunately I know no other names in the family beyond my Grandfather. I do know that he was a comedian/variety artist and worked a lot at The Collins Music Hall in Islington. Until I am able to trace him either by way of a census/birth certificate/parish register I am stuck!!! If you could let me have sight of what you have found I would be grateful

Chrissie There are quite a few LeFrancs on the various census, but none are called Frederick. Are you interested in any of them?

Doesn't help with the surname - and calling all the men the same name! That's confusing for everyone doing this lol I have about 50 William Roberts, all born in the same town, all marrying women called Elizabeth, Mary or Ann lol

Thank you girls - Tracy the one you have found is his son with the same name as his Father and his Grandfather which is not particularly helpful. I do know that My Grandfather was married to Christina Munro in 1906 in Islington. I can find no trace of any Le Francs prior to the 1901 census. Any help would be appreciated please.

Trying to trace my Grandfather - name Frederick Lionel Le Franc - on the 1901 census he is listed as being born in Oxford Street London. He was born between 1868 and 1870 - no trace in the register. Can anyone help by finding him on the census returns? Many thanks, Chrissie
