Chris It may be that your dates are not correct. This is taken from church records. It would seem a bit of a stretch of the imagination if there were two William Neilson Dyer's born to a John Dyer and Janet Neilson. Where are you getting the birth date from?? Victor

26 Feb 1869 Perth John Dyer (26) Coachsmith (?) parents James Dyer (Clerk) & Agnes (ms Laing) Janet Neison (22) Domestic Servant parents Wm Neilson & Ann (ms Neilson) I had a look at their son Jame's birh certificate and the mother's name definately looks like Janet. Also Perth is a long way from Glasgow. There are only 2 James Dyers born in 1869. Can you read an address on the birth certificate which you have. Margaret

Janet was probably her name. Janets are quite often called Jessie. I've found the marriage cert. Do you think this is the right one - if so I'll have a look at the image for you.
