Please help me. I am looking for my ggg grandfather Robert Hicks. His name has only been shown on my gg grandfathers ( Julian Shirlock Bult Hicks ) baptisim in Islington ( 1836 ) & marriage cert ( 1858) . Age and place of birth unknown. His occupation is either ENGRAVER or ARTIST. I think I have found him on the 1861 in St Pancras, Marylebone . A widow aged 78 ( 1783 ) place of birth Guilford Surrey. He has a daughter Elizabeth aged 40 ( 1821 ) place of birth St Clements Dane, westminster. Her occupation is a Theatrical Dressmaker. Julian married in St Clements Dane and worked at Drury Lane , London as a Scenic Artists - his children later follow in his footsteps and even own a fair few theatres. Can you help find Robert Hicks without an address? Poss his wife may be Mary or Ann or Mary Ann. Thank you in desperate anticipation. DEBI |

You'd be better asking for 1851 NAME Index lookup for London, using possible 1783 as dob ? He could be absolutely anywhere in London or elsewhere in 1851 .... so I doubt anyone is going to volunteer to 'trawl' for you. What address does Julian give on his Marriage Cert ? I know its 1858 but worth checking in 1851 (JUST in case !!) It would be a start at least ? Good Luck Dancer x Have you seen these: (Bottom one is VERY interesting !) ALL have Robert & Ann as parents ! IGI Individual Record ELIZABETH HICKS Female Event(s): Birth: Christening: 07 JAN 1822 Saint Clement Danes, Westminster, London, England Parents: Father: ROBERT HICKS Family Mother: ANN GEORGE ALFRED HICKS - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 22 SEP 1833 Saint Clement Danes, Westminster, London, England OLIVIA HICKS - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 12 FEB 1826 Saint Clement Danes, Westminster, London, England ANN HICKS - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 23 JUN 1823 Saint Clement Danes, Westminster, London, England THOMAS RICHARD HICKS - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 22 SEP 1833 Saint Clement Danes, Westminster, London, England CHARLES HICKS - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 07 JAN 1822 Saint Clement Danes, Westminster, London, England JOHN SHURLOCK HICKS - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 07 JAN 1822 Saint Clement Danes, Westminster, London, England Good Luck Dancer x |

Hi Dancer Thanks for your reply. I've tried an adress search for 1851 for Julian when address at time of Marriage was given as 27 Kings Road, camden. No luck . Yes I have clocked the IGI's - hence my desperation to find this particular Robert on the 1851 - if not Julian's father most defiantely a very close family relative. This is perhaps the BIGGEST break through we've had in over 10 yrs - so prehaps I shall pull in my reigns and be at least grateful have found a crumb LOL!! Thanks again Dancer!! Much happiness Debi |

Dwaffy Dwuck that was very kind of you - thank you very much. I'm not sure were I can look now :(( I've found a marriage for the previously mentioned John Shurlock Hicks in 1846 wandsworth - I think I best purchase this and then see where it all leads : )) Much happiness Debi |

I'll pray that his father on the Marriage cert is an Engraver/Artist for you.! ... that would hopefully link them ? (sorry I disappeared, had to nip into town) Dancer x Maybe a search of St Clements area in London could proove interesting ... since they all seemed to be christened in that area. My roms aren't working properley at the moment, but I'll persiveer and if I can get to view the 1841, I'll see if I can find anything..... No promises though Debi, please don't rely on me x |

I'm a happy bunny - honest :)) I'm going to wait patiently for this MC to arrive and take it from there. At least it will give me another address to search and closer to 1841 & 1851 as it's in 1846.
