Searching for John Brice married Ellen Phoebe White June 1891, son Albert Edward born 1896. Trying to find birth dates of John and Ellen . Impatient only just ordered marriage cert. Thankyou any help appreciated. suex Cannot find on Any Census any ideas ?

There is this birth on Ancestry:- Name: BRICE, John Record Type: Births Quarter: December Year: 1860 District: Gower County: Glamorgan Volume: 11a Page: 456 Kath. x this is not the right one.

Hi Jess, Yes he definately married Ellen Phoebe White of Newport Monmouthshire. I cannot find them on 1901 census either. They had one son Albert Edward who was born to them at 1 Hesley Place Newport Mon on 24/3/1896 and I cant find him either. Struggling a bit here lol suex AAAARGH Kath where have they gone ive searched on 1837 and 1901 census used all my credits up looking for this pair, dont know where to go with it now ? suex

Hi Sue, I've found them in 1901, mistranscribed as Brier, living Newport. I've saved the image if you need it. They certainly took some finding!! Kath. x p.s. only the children were born Monmouthshire, John and Ellen Phoebe give birthplaces in England.

This looks like John's birth:- June qtr. 1863, Taunton, 5c, 453 Taunton covers Pitminster, which is where John gives as birthplace on the 1901. Kath. x sorry Fiona, been looking for them for ages today. Got a bit fed up with my lot, so thought I'd try someone elses.

This looks like Ellen's birth record:- Ellen P. White June qtr. 1866, Shipston, 6d, 587 (page number not clear) Shipston covers a place in Warwickshire called Sutton under Brailes, and Brailes is the place of birth for Ellen on the 1901 census. The page for this birth is free on 1837online as the image is poor, so you may be able to look at it yourself. Kath. x

Hi Kath, Noticed the 11 year gap between Ellen and brother James, if it is the right family for her I would have to question if Ellen was Charles' daughter??? Might be Mary had Ellen before marring him. This could be a possible marriage? Registration district matches for St. Mary Redcliff, address in 1881. Having problems finding the 3 of the together in 1871. What do you think?? Not sure Fiona. I think it more likely that if it IS a second marriage for Charles, that Ellen was his daughter and not Mary's, otherwise she would probably have a different surname, and I have found a birth reference for her in name of White. Have to log off now for a while and sort out a meal before hubby and son come in from work. Will check back later. Kath. x
