Sorry it took so long, the site is slow today!! 1861 Census John Owen c 1816 Chorlton, Lancs Fanny Owen c1815 Stockport, Lancs Joseph 1845 Manchester Mary Ann 1849 Manchester James 1856 Manchester Can't remember where I found Ellen Jane but she was born c1844. Have searched 1837 for 1842 - 44 and cannot find them Any help appreciated. Thanks Lynne

what area were they from?

was Ellen born Manchester too? jess x

ive been through all the john owens in lancashire weddings from 1837-1846, no sign of it, maybe they got married just before records began being kept. jenny

Jess Yes, I have found where I got the info on Ellen Jane, it was from the IGI and it's her christening record at Manchester Cathedral in 1844. Thanks for your help. Lynne

Maybe you should ask for 1851 for John and Fanny/Francis Owen in 1851. was she married as Fanny or Francis?

Jess The marriage on IGI shows her as Fanny Robinson and her name on James' (1855) birth cert is Fanny too. She is also on 1861 as Fanny. Do you think maybe the fact that Ellen Jane's mother is listed as FRANCES means she is a different person? Looking back on my other records, I have IGI christening for Mary Ann, Sep 1855 and her mother is shown as FRANCES too. Maybe I'm on the wrong track with some of the children in that case. Lynne

maybe, lets see what 1851 turns up, can you trace Fanny /Francis (Robinson ..was it?) birth thru IGI?

Jess I need to start thinking ahead (or is it back) like you do. I hadn't even looked for Fanny's birth but have now found a likely christening on IGI - 15 Feb 1815 Stockport. As you say, let's hope someone will come up with 1851 for me. Thanks again for all your help. Lynne
