Cannot find CAROLINE BISHRY who was born 1864 at Mile End in the 1901 census. In November 1901 she gave birth to a baby at her sister's house(Alice Harris 58 Fern St. Poplar) she does not name the father of the child on his birth certificate and she is still a Bishry so unmarried but states she is a Domestic Servant. I am wondering where she was working in the 1901 census. Any help would be much appreciated. Irene

Jess The only Caroline (Bishey) I can see in 1891 was born 1836. Yes checked the image and it look like she is 35 not 55 as transcribed. Victor

Yes Victor i agree, but looking at the image it tells another date! says she is 35, and a nurse wonder if poster has found her in 1891?

Jess I wonder. Seems strange that in 1901 she is a domestic servant, when in 1891 she was a 'nurse sick'. Also wonder if they are the same person as she is a widow Bishey in 1891, but apparently maiden name is still a Bishry in 1901. Victor

Sorry I have been doing boring things like housework. The Caroline you have as the Sick Nurse is the mother of Caroline Bishry born in 1864. Bishry is the right name although it has been transcribed as some strange names in previous census. Thank you for looking, I could not find her. Many thanks Irene

Thanks Rosemary I looked at that one, think it is a C then changed to a K, cannot be sure. Alice Edith Bishry married Thomas Harris in 1887. In 1891 Mary Bishry is staying with her sister Alice Harris at Poplar Mary Ann Elizabeth Bishry(BIRKEY) is a nurse in 1901 census at North Everton, West Derby The other Mary Bishry's found in the census at Clapham are her aunt and grandmother. Many thanks Irene

I THINK!!!!! I may have found Caroline Bishry in 1881 census transcribbed as CAROLINE BUSHY 17 domestic servant at Poplar not far from where her sister lives. What do you think? Irene

I reckon the Caroline Kirley mentioned by Rosemary is your Caroline Bishry mistranscribed by the enumerator.

Hi Jess, she does not give Mile End in the census, only her father did when she was 7. I have looked and looked on 91/01 and cannot find her. Thanks for your time. Regards Irene

You might well be right about Caroline Kirley. I have printed image off with a big question mark beside her name. Many thanks Irene
