I would really like to know where my 3xggrandmother was buried, I know she died in 1874 in West norwood, Lambeth, Surrey, but unlike the rest of the family she was not buried in west norwood cemetry (London Metropolitan). Her name was Diana Meager ( sometimes Dinah) Her death cert put her age at death 103 but I have my doughts!!!!! I would be really grateful if someone could do a NBI look up. Thanks in advance Debbie

Hi Debbie, Have you followed her back through the census to check her age ? ie 1871 census should give approx age ! Was she married ...do you know her maiden name ? Have you checked for an entry on the IGI (FamilySearch) site for a possible Christening ? Can't help with NBI but can try and help clarify age at death ! Dancer x

Hi Dancer Diana is a bit of a mystery, Meager is her married name but I have never found her marriage to mt 3xggrandfather william so I have know idea what her maiden was. Also her age and place of birth differs a great deal through the censuses, I think that is why I would like to know where she is buried, it might give me a clue as to where she comes from. thanks Debbie

Hi Dancer That was one of my ancestors, he was the last born and the only one baptised in Norwood, the rest (10 in total) were baptised in St John the Baptist in Croydon. Debbie

Investigations into possible children for William & Diana have found a John Meager b c1815. On the 1871 census, the OTHER Meager family is a John Meager b Surrey 1815. Widowed. Have you got all this info ? I have found several children Christened at St John the Baptist, Croyden, Surrey to William & Diana Meager. Maybe a check on the Parish Register for this particular church will throw up a marriage for William and Diana and give you Diana's maiden name, which will hopefully get you one step closer to finding a possible entry for her birth. Other children found (apart from Thomas already mentioned) 1. ROBERT MEAGER - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 28 JUL 1820 Saint John The Baptist, Croydon, Surrey, England 2. ELIZA MEAGER - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 26 MAY 1811 Saint John The Baptist, Croydon, Surrey, England 3. ELIZABETH MEAGER - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 26 SEP 1824 Saint John The Baptist, Croydon, Surrey, England 4. JOHN MEAGER - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 28 APR 1816 Saint John The Baptist, Croydon, Surrey, England 5. ALICE MEAGER - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 26 SEP 1813 Saint John The Baptist, Croydon, Surrey, England 6. WILLIAM MEAGER - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 12 MAY 1822 Saint John The Baptist, Croydon, Surrey, England 7. SARAH MEAGER - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 21 JUN 1818 Saint John The Baptist, Croydon, Surrey, England All have parents William Meager and Diana. Dancer x

How do you know she was not buried with the rest of her family? Have you contacted the cemetry? Otherwise, you might need to make a list of burial grounds in the area and contact each of them.

Seems I was typing whilst you were replying ! I've just been searching the marriages for Meager in St John Baptist .... nothing is showing for William and Diana. I'll keep looking and get back with any results. In the meantime, good luck ! Dancer x

Hi Dancer Yes, they are all my family, John b.1816 is my direct ancestor ( can't find his marriage either!!!!) and I have looked at the parish records for John the bap but the marriage was not there. I think they would have probally wed in her parish but as I don't know where that is I don't know where to start looking. Debbie

Have checked the VRI ... no results for William & Diana :-( Found a William MeagOr = Ann in Dartford, Kent but thats doubtful. Only a thought, but what was her cause of death ? maybe it would constitute a Cremation ??? What places of birth do other census's give you for her ? obviously 1871 says Hampshire .. where was William born ? Grasping at straws now, but suppose every little bit of info helps in the long run ! Dancer x

Hi Dancer In 1841 she states she was from that county (Surrey) in 1851 she states what looks like Herne Bay,Kent in 1861 Hampshire 1871 liphook Hampshire William is also a bit tricky, I think he was possibly born in 1779 in Addington, Croydon and could have been the son of John Meager and Elizabeth Best but I can't yet confirm this.
