please dont use a name as a title, especially your own! Its not very helpful as none of us are likely to recognise it anyway! Post a title like look up please in 1861 Nottinghamshire or birth help 1823 Yorkshire. People can then establish whether they can help or not. If you are answering a thread, please dont use personal messages, reply on the thread. Sorry to keep posting on this issue to everyone who already knows! Feel free to add any other tips. Laura xx |

It wasnt meant at anyone in particular, its just more likely you'll get a helpful response if people know what you're looking for. Some people, including me sometimes dont read a message unless it asks for something I have. Hope I've not upset you!!! Laura xxxxx |

Can I please add a tip. If someone has put 'please do not PM' in their thread....that means please do not send through Private message..so it goes into their Inbox. This can get quite frustrating as you can end up with a huge ammount of messages.. Please put any requests on the persons thread.. Hope you dont mind me adding this??? I have got a thread up and have put that message in the opening box and first message box and im STILL getting them in my INBOX...GGGrrrrr.... Thats better now..lol Cheers Lesley |

Totally agree Lesley, I have had a thread up since Saturday and have had about 5 people privately messaging their request. Its frustrating to try and explain why they need to move it without sounding picky and moaning at them! |

I used to send a polite message and explanation on why they neede to put it on the thread, these are getting shorter to a please reply on my thread!!! When you're getting a few a day, you cant be bothered to keep explaining! My thread has please reply on thread in the title!!! Maybe we should start a board etiquette thread!!!!
