Cheryl does the 1901 census match details of place & year of births as the 1891 census? I can't find them at present on the 1881 census . I may have found thier marriage in 1861 : Marriages Mar 1861 Atkins Edwin Nottingham 7b 282 Heard Sarah Nottingham 7b 282 Have you located them on the 1871 census? Much happiness Debi |

Hi Cheryl I'm having trouble locating him in the 1861/71 & 81 LOL It may be a good idea to obtain one of edwin's & Sarah's childrens birth cert so as to assertain Sarah's maiden name thus enabling you to search and purchase Sarah & Edwin's marriage cert giving fathers name etc and hopefully then we could find them on the census details. I'll keep looking for a wee while . Much happiness Debi |

Although it is transcribed WALCOTT in 1891, the image certainly states WALSALL. Paul |

Hi Debbie As far as I am aware Mary has no middle name listed on either her marriage certificate or her death certifcate. But my father said said his Mothers brother was called William Henry Atkins and he got killed in a mining accident which why my father was called William Henry. Not sure how true this is through, my Father was only 7 when his Mother died. Cheryl |

Cheryl I too suspect that Sarah was married prior to Edwin, It does seem odd that none of the family can be located before 1891! Lib Could this be Joseph's birth ref same area as Robert, they are the two youngest 'Atkins' children too: Atkins, Joseph Record Type: Births Quarter: September Year: 1886 District: Basford County: Derbyshire Nottinghamshire Volume: 7b Page: 194 |

Cheryl Clutching at straws now and working on the theory that edwin is the Step father to Lily & Mary and maybe Mary was a Matilida - ANYTHING could occur with our ancestors when they wished to cover up things !! This was the ONLY Lily & Sarah from Tamworth I could find on the 1881 census - note matilida b 1881 and in Notts!! Alfred is a coal miner: Alfred Beals abt 1856 Bedworth, Staffordshire, England Head 12 Lotus St, Nottingham St Mary, Nottinghamshire, England John Beals abt 1868 Bedworth, Staffordshire, England Son 12 Lotus St, Nottingham St Mary, Nottinghamshire, England Lilly Beals abt 1876 Tamworth, Staffordshire, England Daughter 12 Lotus St, Nottingham St Mary, Nottinghamshire, England Matilda Beals abt 1881 Nottm, Nottinghamshire, England Daughter 12 Lotus St, Nottingham St Mary, Nottinghamshire, England Sarah Beals abt 1858 Tamworth, Staffordshire, England Wife 12 Lotus St, Nottingham St Mary, Nottinghamshire, England The address looks as if it's 12 Lotus St, Notts Much happiness Debi |

Hi Debbie I'm trying not to get to excited just yet. But I can't find the Sarah or Lily Beals in 1891. My Gran Mary's birthday was the 1st May so she probably wasn't born in at the time of the 1881 Census. My Dad never spoke much about his family and he died two years ago so I'm really struggling. He was 7 when his Mum died and 13 when his Dad died. The whole family are a total mystery his mother and father married in 1905 his elder sister Evelyn was born 1906 and my Dad 1920, but then when he died my Mum and i found out that he had an older brother called Henry and another sister called Beatie, but Beatie was born 4 years before Evelyn. I have no contact with my Dads family at all but I am determined to find out what the mystery is!!!!!!! Regards Cheryl |
