Looking for the parents of Evelyn Todd born in Riseley around 1831, I found her marriage and it states that her father was Johanne is this a spelling mistake. Any help appreciated. Her maiden name was PEACOCK

Well he could be called Johanne, I suppose. If you'd found it in a parish register I would have said it was an illiterate attempt at Johannus, or the Latin way of writing John. Are you positive that it says Johanne and isn't just John with lots of squiggles and flourishes? nell

Johanne it says but there is no mothers details, it was transcribed i didnt see the original.

Hi I havent got a clue what his occupation was, The only info I had was that her father was Johanne Peacock, I was praying for something else to come to light. I searched the IGI and found Evelyns Marriage which confirmed he was Johanne, its a foreign sounding name. Wonder where he came from,

There's another Johannes Peacock in Bedfordshire according to IGI who could possibly end up being the Father or Grandfather of your Johannes: Johannes Peacock born 24th February 1752, baptised 27th February 1752 St Peters Street United Brethren or Moravian, Bedford, Bedford(shire) England, son of John Peacock and Mary.
