Can anyone out there help with this marriage? CHARLES HALL PHILLIPS married AMY SMITH (my Great Grandparents). Amy was born 31 Jan 1895, Macclesfield ?, Cheshire and died in 1928, age 33. Their first child was born 10 Jan 1915. Amy's mother was called LAVINIA SMITH. Believe it was in the Macclesfields, Macclesfield Forest, Wildboarclough, Flash area. Would love to find some info on Charles as I don't know much about him or his family. Thanks Dawn :-) |

Hi Lesley How are you hun? Thanks, I've already found Amy on the 1901 census. I'm hoping to find out more about Charles as my Mum doesn't know much about him. I'm trying to compile a book with all our family history in for a present to give my Mum and Dad at our wedding in 4 weeks time. I'm also doing the same for Matthew's Mum. Fingers crossed I can get it together by then!!!!! Dawn :-) |

Hi Everyone I think Hall was his middle name as his wife and children (inc my Nanna) were all called 'Phillips'. I have in the past tried to find him on the 1901 census but as I don't know where he was born or anything about his family, I didn't get far. Thanks for your time so far. Dawn :-) |

Hi Lesley You know me, I don't like things if they're easy lol Thought it would be lovely thank gift for my folks. Thanks for looking for Charles for me. Can I ask you another favour, if you have a spare 5 minutes? I'm also trying to find another marriage, it's for my Nanna and Grandad. They married in 1942 at Thomas a'Becket Church, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire. They were called Arthur Samuel Garlick and Marion Phillips (my Mum's parents). Marion was born 6 May 1923, Wildboarclough (what a great name !!!). I've had a look on BDM but no joy. I did find them on familyhistoryonline but only had their names and year of marriage. Thanks again hun!!!!!! Dawn :-) |

Hi Lesley I got 'Hall' from one of my aunts. She started the family research before computers where as available as they are today. How mad was she!!!!!!! Anyway, she had an entry from St. Saviour's, Wildboarclough Register which had the children of Charles Hall Phillips and Amy Phillips. I'll keep searching. Dawn :-) |

Hi Sue Thanks, you're a star!!!!! I'm off to send for both of these marriage certs. That's brilliant. My Grandad died when I was a baby and my Mum didn't really know much about her father, just a few names but that's all. Hopefully with their marriage cert I can start digging a little more. Thanks again for helping with my project. If I can help you at any time please let me know. I have acees to Scottish Church records late 1500s to 1854 (births, christenings and marriages) and also the BVRI. Thanks again Sue. Sending a huge hug your way!!! |
