Hi guys thanks for replying... Vera, I have no idea which ship... Thanks for the effort Suzanne....I didn't realise there were so many ships....That makes it harder then...these people were my ggg/g grand parents...or something like that...was attempting to make a link between mine and some info that was kindly found linking us to Ireland...Seriously didn't realise there would be so many... Hi JA, I would appreciate that....the Riddles are a main branch of the tree...and as far as I know...none of us have contact with any living Riddle...(or family of) since my dad cut ties 40 yrs ago when he was young..so would be fantastic..all I have are outdated phone numbers passed on to me when I took up the tree.. Thanks heaps Leeanne

Leeanne Fool's gold I am afraid, so sorry to raise your expectations. The book mentioned was by all accounts not really a book but loose papers about the Edwards family. They were connected with the Riddle family. No Riddle names available ( the Uncle by marriage I spoke to was actually not that interested I am sorry to say). He did not recognise any of your names. His family came out from Wales in the 1860s, settled in the Brighton area of Adelaide and were I think blacksmiths. I wonder if South Australia has a genealogy society? I will google to see. So sorry, I know how disappointing it is to hit a brick wall and I am also sorry I might have raised your expectations! Keep in touch. I will also keep fossicking around. Let me know if you have any extra information Regards JA

Had a look at the SA site, while cem records of a James Riddle, they were 30's and 40's A bit stumped Leeanne as SA births are not on line (even though the society has them for over $200!!! a CD) I will talk to genealogy people at work, but it will not be for a few weeks as I am hols A suggestion..a new post asking for Riddle in SA....anyone in Adelaide could do a birth search for you or who belongs to the SA genealogy society...I am 1200 km away or would do it myself...worth a try JA

Can I ask you a question, is the birth date of 1824 right for Beryl daughter of James and Jane. You say she is your grandmother, is she the daughter of James the son of James and Mary? Pam

David Riddle - not sure if your David, but more children Elsie Mabel Riddle - parents David Riddle and Eliza Jane Day 2nd February 1890 Echunga Distrcit MTB Book 453 page 67 George Henry - David Riddle and Eliza Jane Day 21 May 1895 Pentantba (I think but not clear) Distict Fll (or Fli) Book 564 Page 165 Frederick Hurtle 13 Novemebr 1899 - David Riddle and Eliza Jane Day, Coorabie (I think not clear) District Fll Book 650 Page 261 Ernest Gordon 28 June 1903 - David and Eliza Jane Day, Coorabie? District FLL? Book 714 Page 191 The other Davids were on the York Peninsula or in Adelaide Bright - part of husband's Riddle connection. Not sure where this takes you, also given that the birth date of James and Mary's child appears to be 1857, unless I transcribed it incorectly- heaven forbid it was not overly clear Regards JA
