There is a Nathaniel Rogers of the right age, born Cheshire on the 1901 census working as a shop assistant, in a gentleman's outfitters. Kath. x

Jen He's a scholar on 1891 and a shop assistant for a gentlemans outfitters on the 1901. Selina is showing as a guest at a school and there is a Jane P Rogers showing as a housekeeper at the school - Selinas daughter? Debby

That may be him. He would be early 20's wouldn't he. Can you find out if he married or if he had another job after that or not? Thanks Jen

Hi Debby Yes Selina was Jane's mum. I believe Jane was working at an Institute for the Deaf & Dumb Children in Norwich. Would that Selina be a widow at that time? Jen

There isn't a marriage for Nathaniel on Ancestry. He is single and 22 on the 1901 census. You would have to wade through the GRO indexes on 1837online which is pay per view, or look at them at a large library, record office or Family History centre where you could do it for free. Kath. x

I think a trip to the Family History Centre is on the cards for me. I have a few questions which I may find the answers to there. I would like to thank everyone for the help - at least I am a step nearer. Thanks again Jen

Hi Debby You say she is a widow on 1901. Can you tell when her husband died and where he may be buried. He was William born 1834, Wrexham, Flintshire, Wales Thanks Jen

Don't know if this is the right one but it is registered in Northwich, which is where Nathaniel was in 1901, and age seems about right. Name: Rogers, William Record Type: Deaths Age at death: 63 Quarter: March Year: 1898 District: Northwich County: Cheshire Volume: 8a Page: 187 Kath. x

Hi Kathleen & Debby Why on earth did they all keep the same names in those days. Why not throw in an Elvis or something. It would make life much easier. Kathleen - that one does seem right. It doesn't say what he died of does it? Thanks Jen

No, you have to buy the certificate to get the details. All you get online is the information I gave you. Kath. x

I forgot to say that if you want the images for Selina and Nathaniel in the 1901 census, I've saved them. If you send me your email address I'll send them tomorrow. I'm off to bed now. Goodnight, Kath. x
