Where are you getting the year of birth from? I have checked 1877 and 1878 births on 1837online which is complete, and there is no George Robert Abbott born in those two years. Kath. x

Nope, I cant find one either on family search, I found one - submitted by a member - born Derbys not Durham 1877. This one on freebmd - is it right area? I've rechecked 1837online in case I missed him, but there is definitely no George Robert Abbott, Abbot, Abbots, or Abbotts born in 1877 or 1878 on there. Kath. x

Heather, I think Chorlton is in Lancashire which is the other side of the country, to Durham. I think the one born 1877, submitted by a member must be a mistake, as 1837online don't have any births for this name anywhere in the country in 1877. Kath. x

Sorry, not up to speed here. Do you have what, his marriage certificate? If so we would be able to see who dad was which would make this all much more accurate. As there doesnt seem to be a George Robert the right birth date, then something is wrong somewhere and we need to start from the info we definitely know is correct. What info is that please?

BIG THANK-YOU TO EVERY-ONE. jeanette sorry this is not him, i have him on all the censuses,but am finding it absoluteley impossible to trace any birth info for him,have even checked IGI [nothing] george robert is 3yrs old on the 1881 census. he is my gt-grandad. is it possible he could be down as robert abbott 1878. on 1881 census his place of birth is toft hill durham. any more help greatly appreciated. thank's so much, gwenx

have also found his as a servant 1878 on the 1891 same birth place as 1881 census
