I can use it, it looks like a beta test site to me, because not everything is working properly. They have lauched a test site a few days before launching the real thing! Caroline

No, wait - I have the big boxes now! It changed when I opened another window and logged onto ancestry in that one, then clicked refresh in the 1851 window. I may be gone some time now...! Kate.

I'm so excited, I've forgotten who my brick walls are! lol Working for me via the web addy Tracy gave (thank you SOOOOOO much!!!!). Don't go down the page to where it says ''1851 Eng'' or ''1851 Wales''....just put your search name in the big boxes at the top. When you get the first list of results, if you don't like Ranked Results, you can change to Exact at that point and then continue with Exact. Merry xxx

It only appears to show Ranked Matches. When I try to change to Exact, it goes away.

It's true! Trust me. Go to http://www.1851-census.*co.uk/ Put your name in the Ancestor's First Name: Ancestor's Last Name: part and submit. You have to be logged into Ancestry.*co.uk for it to work. 1851 England Census Record about John Sager Name: John Sager Age: 37 Estimated birth year: abt 1814 Relation: Head Household: View other family members Gender: Male Where born: Barnsley, Yorkshire, England Civil parish: Worsbrough County/Island: Yorkshire Country: England Source information: HO107/2333 Registration district: Barnsley Sub-registration district: Darfield ED, institution, or vessel: 1c Folio: 216 Page: 27 (click to see others on page) Household schedule number: 101 GSU Number: 87577 If you are subscibed to *com, simply change the address once you have completed the search. I know for a fact he's not on the sample.

ErikaH Report 7 Oct 2005 15:47

You can't find the sample...............if the name and county you are researching happens to be among those covered, it will come up automatically under 'results'. Very few counties have been touched.........I think Devon is about the best so far (but not sure on that) Rose
