Joyce, I'm sorry. The only things I can think of, is either he's down as Jaw or Law, or he's away at sea from 1861 till he dies. William is a Ship Builder, and his sons are Seamen, so it wouldn't surprise me at all. Perhaps that's where Henry is too.

Hi Tracey, I am looking for the McFarquhar family and hitting my head against a huge brick wall. Esther Lilian McFarquhar was born Aug 1894 in Stribbington Street, Somers Town, St Pancras. Her father was James and mother was Marion (nee Chambers) (info from Esther's birth cert). I am looking for their marriage & not had any luck so far. Esther married in 1919 and was living in the next street to where she was born, so I believe they didn't leave the St Pancras area. Yet I have been unable to trace them on the 1901 census. Any help you can provide would be very greatfully received. Many Thanks, Dawn

Hi Tracy, I have been looking for a marriage of a William Thomas Whitehead to Madelaine. I have him in 1901 when he was a widow, living in Harrow Manor Way, Police quarters Abbey Wood Dartford Kent then in 1915 he retired from the police force leaving no forwarding address but his pension record shows next of kin as Madelaine so somewhere between 1901 and 1915 he remarried. I started to trawl through 1837online but got so far then ran out of patience/credits. I can't remember where I got to. Have you got anything ? Thank you Chris

Hi, I am researching the Levison family, as the name is so rare I thought this would be easy but I have got as far as my grandad and now I am stuck! My Grandad Herbert Levison 1906 in Blackburn Lancashire when looking for his father I can find absolutely nothing, I believe from asking around in the family that he changed his name due to a marriage to a lady of a different religion but as my grandad was called levison assume he didnt change his surname unless it was a marriage after his birth rumour has it that he changed his name to Benedict or Bennie Levison. If you cant help do you have any advice as to where I could start looking as I really am stumped. Many Thanks in advance Catherine

Hi , Tracy , Thanks for your reply ... I'm descended from Henry Taw ,son of Wm and Matilda Taw (people in question ) 1901 Henry and Marion (Hannah Maria actually ) Taw.my gt/grandparents.. Henry was born 1843 in Milton Gravesend Kent.and living in Cottage Row Tower Hamlets... 1891 Has Henry and Maria in St Leonards rd , St Leonards Bromley by Bow. 1881 has Maria ,with her father Peter Bastow in Prospect place Bromley by Bow...husband Henry not to be found anywhere ????? 1871 Maria is in John St Tower hamlets with 2 small children , husband Henry missing again ... I can find no trace of William and Matilda Taw (Henry's parents ) after the 1861 census ...it's like they have disappeared off the face of the earth .. I've been on 1837online , familyrelatives ,freebmd . I can only think they are mistranscribed , although you wouldn't expect that on 1837....am totally at a loss !!! Hope this isn't too long-winded for you Tracy ... many thanks , Joyce

David, this information might be on FreeBMD. Have you tried there? I won't be able to find anything before 1866 if it's not on there.
