what other gaps do you have?

Nicola

Nicola Report 21 Oct 2005 20:34

Can't find her birth or either of her marriages (if she did marry) If she was 34 when she died she'd only be 15 when Laura P was born

Whose birth/ Marriage ? Bertha Melinda's? (although you know she married Mr Perry- what was his christian name?)

Nicola

Nicola Report 21 Oct 2005 20:38

Yes, sorry I wasn't very clear. I'm assuming she married William Perry but can't find a marriage

Are you sure the Bertha you have in 1871 is correct? She's shown as Bertha Price & unmarried. There is a daughter Charlotte in the 1861 census, b 1854 in the Parr household. Angela

Sorry have to go and fetch hubby will be back later Nicky

Nicola

Nicola Report 21 Oct 2005 23:43

I'm not definately sure about 1871, but it would be a co-incidence that she was Bertha Melinda Price on Laura Pauline's birth cert 2 years later, maybe she just called herself Price, I don't know...... Yes if Charlotte was born in 1854 then 1858 would be more likely to be correct for Bertha I think..... confused Nicky hoping for an answer However why isn't Bertha on 1861 whether she was 3 or 7 then?

Nicola I was wondering why Bertha wasn't with her family in 1861, but I can't find her elsewhere so thought she might be Charlotte (if that makes sense). Do you have Bertha's birth cert? Angela

Nicola

Nicola Report 22 Oct 2005 12:04

No that's part of the mystery. I only have her death cert, no birth or marriage(s). Don't even know who reported her death as there was an inquest and the information was provided by the coroner. Nicky

Carolyn Report 22 Oct 2005 14:06

Nicola, if there was an inquest into her death it would almost certainly have been reported in the local newspaper. I have contacted local record offices on 2 occasions about inquest reports and both times they were able to provide me with a copy of the newspaper articles which were quite detailed. Best of luck. Thanks Carolyn. Tho sadly in this case the inquest was because she died after having an abortion. Nicky
